How to Report An Environmental Pollution in Ontario
Have you ever seen someone hurting the environment but didn’t know what to do about it? Don't turn a blind eye, it's extremely simple!
Trees might become CO2 sources by 2050
Approximately 30% of our carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are absorbed by the remaining forests and land ecosystems. However, new studies are showing that the increasing global temperatures might transform these natural “sinks” into carbon “sources”.
Is working remotely environmentally friendly? Maybe not.
Post-covid lockdowns, companies are given a rare opportunity to change or reset working models for their employees; it will be a vital question they’ll need to answer as the world starts to pick back up from the pandemic. Will they allow their employees to continue working from home? Will they require employees to return to the office? Will they opt to choose a hybrid model?
It seems intuitive to assume that working remotely is clearly better for the environment. But one must look at the whole picture before coming to this conclusion.
Ontario is Burning
The smoke released from forest fires causes very poor air quality and drastically reduces visibility. The northwestern Ontario fires in summer of 2021 (which increased in quantity when compared to previous years) led to high levels of air pollution in southern Ontario due to atmospheric circulation. This is not good for us at all.

The Impact of 2020 on Industry and Businesses
The lockdown during 2020 has dramatically changed how our industry is dealing with carrying out our services. It is tricky because people who are infected by the virus can still spread it because of the virus’s asymptomatic spread. Safetech’s services heavily relies on moving from place to place as our technicians collect samples from multiple locations. We do not have the luxury of working remotely 24/7 as many of us need to physically go to sites. According to the Ontario Government, our industry of environmental service is classified as an essential service, so we did not have to close when the Ontario Government declared lockdowns. We did not want to put our staff at risk as they continued working, so they were provided masks, reminded to upkeep basic hygiene, and encouraged to social distance.
